Notes:

1    Electrical Installation Rules (ПУЭ) 1.1.6. DRY LOCATION is the premise where relative humidity of 60% is not exceeded. In case the conditions specified in paragraphs 1.1.10 - 1.1.12 do not characterize the premises, they are considered normal.

2    Electrical Installation Rules (ПУЭ) 1.1.7. HUMID LOCATION is the premise where relative humidity reaches 60% but does not exceed 75%.

3    Electrical Installation Rules (ПУЭ) 1.1.8. DAMP LOCATION is the premise where relative humidity exceeds 75%.

4    Electrical Installation Rules (ПУЭ) 1.1.9. EXTREMELY HUMID LOCATION is the premise where relative humidity is close to 100% (ceiling, walls, floor, furniture and other property items are weeping).

5    Electrical Installation Rules (ПУЭ) 1.1.10. HOT PREMISE is the premise where ambient temperature occasionally (for over 24 hours) or permanently exceeds +35ºС (i.e. premises where ovens, dryers or boilers are installed).

6    Electrical Installation Rules (ПУЭ) 1.1.11. DUST-LOADED PREMISE is the premise where due to occupational factor dust is emitted and covers current-carrying parts or penetrates inside the tools and equipment. Premises exposed to conductive and nonconductive dust are distinguished.

7    Electrical Installation Rules (ПУЭ) 1.1.12. PREMISES WITH CHEMICALLY ACTIVE OR ORGANIC MEDIA, where, occasionally or permanently, aggressive gases or fluids, as well as mold or other deposits are formed and destroy insulation and current-carrying parts of electrical equipment.

8     Electrical Installation Rules (ПУЭ) 1.1.13 provide several categories of electrical hazard:

      1) Low Risk Premises without the conditions which produce high or medium hazard (see paragraphs 2 and 3).

      2) High Risk Premises are characterized by at least one of the following:

- humidity or conductive dust (see paragraphs 1.1.8 and 1.1.11)

- conductive flooring (metal, dirt, ferro-concrete, brick and other materials)

- high temperature (see P. 1.1.10)

- safety of touching a grounded metal structure or electrical installation while simultaneously touching the metal casing of power equipment (open current-carrying parts)

      3) Extremely Hazardous Premises are characterized by at least one of the following:

          - very high humidity (see P. 1.1.9)

          - chemically active or organic media (see P. 1.1.12)

          - two or more types of hazard affecting the same premise (see P. 1.1.13 item 2)

      4) Areas containing exposed electrical components refer to the category of Extremely Hazardous Premises.

9    Lightning Protection Regulations РД 34.21.122-87 P. 1.2.

Class I and Class II lightning protection systems prevent buildings and structures from direct lightning strikes and their secondary effects including transients through the metal components of surface and underground supply lines.

Class III lightning protection systems prevent buildings and structures from direct lightning strikes and transients through the metal components of surface supply lines. Outdoor equipment fitted with Class II lightning protection system is prevented from direct lightning strikes and their secondary effects. Indoor equipment installed within large areas (over 100 meters in width) requires minimized voltage differential (equal electrical potential / equipotential bonding).

10   Electrical Installation Rules (ПУЭ) 7.3.22. Explosive Atmosphere refers to areas (premises or outdoor equipment) containing or producing explosive substances.
